The Jetstream2 engineering team will be performing essential maintenance on Jetstream2 GPU and Large Memory resources on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 7AM–7PM ET. This maintenance is necessary to apply software upgrades and critical updates to hypervisors, ensuring the continued stability and performance of our infrastructure.
This maintenance will also include measures to help increase equitable distribution of GPU resources to the Jetstream2 community. These include:
- GPU flavor-specific quotas for each project
- Redistribution of g3.* flavors to increase g3.xl availability
- Retirement of g3.2xl and g3.4xl flavors; reducing g3.medium capacity
Quick Summary
- Window starts: July 7, 2026 @ 7AM ET
- Window ends: July 7, 2026 @ 7PM ET (estimated)
- Affected resources: All GPU and Large Memory (including m3.xl) instances
- Take action: Save work and shelve instances prior to maintenance window
Expected Impact
- Instance availability:
- All GPU (g3., g4., g5.) and Large Memory (r3. and m3.xl) will be unavailable.
- Instances that are in an active/unshelved state at the beginning of maintenance will be returned to that state.
- Unaffected flavors: CPU flavors will not be affected.
Required Action
To prevent potential data loss from unsaved processes, we strongly recommend that you:
- Save all work and stop any running processes before the window begins.
- Manually shelve your GPU and/or Large Memory instances by July 6, 2026.
